Fire Alarm Services SP203 Kitemark®

Sonata Security is pleased to announce that they have been successful in achieving full BSI certification to SP203 Kitemark Scheme for Fire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems.

Sonata Security is one of the first to gain the Kitemark Licence for SP203 in East Anglia.

SP203 is published by British Approvals of Fire Equipment (BAFE) a non-profit making organisation which brings together all industry groups to improve and simplify fire industry standards. The Kitemark scheme assessment process ensures that all applicants are fully compliant with the requirement of SP203 before awarding the Kitemark, which also gives the successful applicant BAFE registration to the SP203 Scheme.

The following modules are included in the Kitemark licence:

System Design
System Installation
System Commissioning and Handover
Maintenance of the Installation

Those companies carrying out 'design' may also apply to carry out 'verification; of their own (and others) installations.

Commonly, all systems are designed to BS 5839 Part 1 by 'named designers', although other 'Standards' are also included in the possible scope of accreditation.

A BAFE Modular Certificate may be issued for each module where these have been completed by different companies; and a BAFE Certificate of Compliance for the installation will only be issued when all relevant modules have been completed and verified by BAFE SP203 registered companies.

As a BSI Kitemark Licensee, there are regular independent surveillance assessments undertaken by BSI to ensure that Sonata Security is continually confirming to the requirements of the relevant 'standard' and SP203 scheme.
