ANPR – Automatic Number Plate Recognition
Automatic Number Plate Recognition is one of the most effective vehicle movement and access management tools currently available. Working in conjunction with the market leading Vista VNPR system, Sonata Security designs and supplies solutions that accurately obtain number plate information from approaching vehicles and use this to effectively manage traffic movement throughout your site.
Our systems will raise barriers, switch traffic lights, display driver information on a public display sign and accurately manage multi-tenant car parks. Integrating the system with an access control, will increase security to the site by ensuring the correct person is within the vehicle upon entry.
We cater for all types of businesses, from small to large organisations. ANPR systems need not just be the preserve of large organisations, our systems are fully installed, tested and maintained to ensure that you receive the optimum level of service. How it works
ANPR is a technology that automatically reads vehicle registration marks (VRMs), allowing these details to be compared against database records.
ANPR cameras take an images of vehicle number plates; these images are passed to a reader, which locates the VRM and reads the letters and characters so that they can be identified using Optical
Character Recognition (OCR) software. An image of the number plate is then saved and checked against the database.
As a vehicle approaches the camera the software takes a series of 'snapshots' and stores them in a file. When the number plate is of sufficient size for the OCR software the frame is scanned and held in a list. This is carried out for a series of images according to the speed and position of the vehicle ensuring that the optimum view of the license plate is achieved.
ANPR capture is totally dependent on the correct set up of camera, lens, illumination, angle of view and configuration.
